While 38 of Africa's 54 countries have a coastline, the ocean hasn't been fully leveraged to tell the continent's nature stories. That's why NEWF has endeavored to create the largest ocean access program for African scientists, conservationists, and storytellers.
In this session, the speakers will discuss cultivating a pan-African community of divers, who have challenged the idea of what an African marine scientist or storyteller can be; the specialized skills NEWF Fellows have cultivated, from advanced underwater cinematography and photography skills, to reaching new depths through free-diving and rebreathing; to boosting local economies by training the next generation of scientists and storytellers.
They'll also share snippets of ocean impact stories from the NEWF community.
