Dr. Mathias Behangana, a herpetologist based in Uganda, will be sharing his cutting-edge research on 'The Conservation Status of the Nubian Flapshell Turtle.' Previously presumed extinct, the turtle species was rediscovered in 2017 in the White Nile wetlands of South Sudan and Uganda.
Why are these turtles endangered? What is their importance to the ecosystem, to the economy, cultures and human populations? What is the status of efforts to save the turtle?
