Maulline Gragau is an accomplished youth journalist and legal practitioner, known for her award-winning coverage of water governance, climate, and environmental justice. Her work focuses on the intersection of biophysical and socio-political dimensions of water governance, wildlife conservation, climate, and environmental change in various regions across Africa, including East, Central, West, Southern, North, and Horn of Africa.
Through her exposés, Maulline Gragau has uncovered environmental injustices, inadequate policy frameworks, and corporate greed, as well as exposing deep state corruption and human rights violations. Despite threats and intimidation, she has fact-checked political stories and investigated the declining number of lions in Kenya, which received widespread acclaim and was republished in various international publications.
In recognition of her work, she was selected as the Youngest Freelance Journalist from the MENA and Horn of Africa region to participate in the AWiM/UNEP Africa Environment Journalism Programme in 2022. She was also awarded the Africa Women in Media (AWiM) Journalism Grant by the AWiM/UNEP Environmental Journalism Media Campaign for her outstanding environmental reporting.
