Annika McGinnis is a multimedia journalist and media development specialist from the U.S. Under Water Journalists Africa, she is the cofounder of InfoNile, a geojournalism platform, journalists' network and training organisation focused on data-based stories on water and environment in the 11 countries of the Nile Basin. As a journalist in the U.S., she reported for Reuters in the White House and on Capitol Hill, USA TODAY, and McClatchy Newspapers. She is a CIVICUS Goalkeeper, Pulitzer Center and National Geographic Society Grantee, and a former Global Health Corps fellow. She also worked with the Media Challenge Initiative in Kampala, Uganda for 5 years as the Strategy and Programs Director. She specialises in data journalism, multimedia storytelling and environmental reporting, and her stories have won awards in the African Digital Media Awards, Uganda WASH Journalism Awards, National Association of Hispanic Journalists Awards, and others.
