Professor Paul Nwulu, Senior Director of Storytelling Programs at the National Geographic will share how the NatGeo World Water Map can inform coverage of the drought in the Horn of Africa, the unprecedented floods in South Sudan and around the Lake Victoria Basin in recent years.
The NatGeo Map launched on March 20th 2023 was developed in partnership with Utrecht University and Esri and is based on one of the most advanced open-source models to track water availability in every part of the world. Through the map, we will identify water availability hotspots, visualize global freshwater supply and demand, and tell the story of how people use water.
