Byukusenge is an environmental and investigative journalist cross border and member of Rwanda Environmental Journalist (REJ), she is based in Rwanda. She is one of 30% (women) of the sector councils in local government. As a form News and producer presenter at Radio Salus, Chief Editor at www.imirasire.com; she engaged in investigation, writing, environmental and climate change reporting, health reporting.
In 2020, Byukusenge was awarded in 5th Edition of Advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights; HDI Rwanda; Fellow of Women in News (WIN) through investigative reporting in 2020; Fellow of Code for Africa in partnership with GFW in forestation reporting.
In 2021 nominated by Pan African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA) to attend the Fifth Session of UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-5).
In November 2022, she is accredited by UNFCCC to attend COP27as science journalist. In October 2022, Byukusenge awarded in first Edition of Advancing Biotechnology reporting, OFAB-Rwanda. In June 2022, Byukusenge attended workshop of EAC Environmental Journalist organized by EJN/Internews in Uganda. Fellow of African Women in Media's (AWiM) in AWiM/UNEP Africa Environment Journalism Programme in 2022; Rwandan Winner in the Women in News Leadership by World Association on Newspapers (WANIFRA), a fellow of Pulitzer Center 2022, Reporting on forest issues in Congo Basin. She attended the training about Environment and climate change reporting hosted by Environmental Reporting Collaborative (ERC) in 2022. Attended Science Communication reporting organized by OFAB. In December 2022, Byukusenge awarded by BIOCOOR as best environmental journalist in Rwanda.
In February 2023, Byukusenge attended the Wildlife Illegal Trade workshop. It held in Kenya-Nairobi, organized by TRAFFIC and AMWIK in partnership with CONNECT, WWF, KWS and IUCN.
